Cleveland Browns confirm hiring of new assistant secondary coach Tim Hauck – NFL News
The Cleveland Browns, in their first ever move since finishing of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season, said on Monday, January 23, 2012, to have added a new assistant coach to their coaching department.
According to an announcement from the team management, they have hired Tim Hauck, a former defensive co-ordinator of the Tennessee Titans.
Hauck will replace Browns former assistant staff, Jerome Henderson, who left the team to avail an opportunity to coach defensive backs at the Dallas Cowboys.
Browns new coach had spent two years at the Titans under the reign of their former head coach, Jeff Fisher. With firing of Fisher, Hauck was let go too by their new head coach, Mike Munchak.
Before serving the NFL in the coaching position at various teams, Hauck has played the league as a professional football player from a number of teams for consecutive 13 years.
Some of the leading sides that the player had been a part of include the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks.
Moreover, he has coached the Montana team for five seasons before moving to the Titans. He was out for a year before joining the Browns, as confirmed by the team management in a statement released a day ago.
The team aims to further strengthen their defence and the new hiring has come about with the same perspective on their mind.
The 2011 NFL regular season was another dismal year for the Browns, who could manage only four wins in the total of 16 games they played in the season.
Their coach, Pat Shurmur, was hopeful through out the season and backed his side for a better performance. He apparently could not find an answer to the injuries vows that the team confronted throughout the year.
One of their notable injured players was the quarterback, Colt McCoy, who suffered a concussion in their first game of the regular season against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Following his injury the team was hit by the controversy over their decision of allowing the QB to resume his game without checking him for his head injury.
As a result of the controversy, the team came under the scrutiny of the NFL and NFL Players Association (NFLPA). They luckily escaped the possibility of a punishment from the two representative offices in spite of their findings pointing out at a system
failure at the Browns.
The team management now looks for a better season on the field next year and are introducing changes to their coaching department as well as squad to go well prepared into 2012 NFL season.
Some reports have hinted that the team might sign a couple of more assistant coaching officials to add to their coaching department staff.
