Cleveland Browns confirm returner Joshua Cribbs suffer concussion – NFL News
The Cleveland Browns have confirmed the injury of their returner Joshua Cribbs is a concussion but did not elaborate how long he is expected to be out of the side.
Joshua was hit on the helmet in first quarter of the game versus the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday (September 27) night and after lying motionless on the field for a while he managed to be on the sidelines on his own.
He was hit by Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe which also dislodged Joshua’s helmet and his head hit the turf. He was inspected by the team’s medical staff on the sidelines and said to have told the team he was fine and ready to return.
Given the Browns had the worst experience last year when they let quarterback Colt McCoy return to action in a similar circumstance when he had suffered a head injury, they did not take any risk by allowing Cribbs to come back.
It is pertinent to mention that the Browns had been subjected to an inquiry by the National Football League (NFL) over the controversial handling of McCoy’s concussion but were lucky at the end to get away with it despite the fact that the league found a
system failure in the case.
Now they have sensibly avoided taking the same risk in case of Cribbs’ injury which is now confirmed as concussion. He is the latest of the Browns’ group of a quite few players with concussions, and a majority of them are victims of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker
James Harrison’s hits.
The team is yet to confirm now if Cribbs has got additional scans or is due to undergo later in the week to confirm a timeline for the recovery and rehab, and unless they receive a firm opinion from a specialist they are less likely to speculate his comeback.
He is one of the few bright spots in the Browns’ young line-up and his ousting for the entire season can certainly come as a great setback to their better performance chances.
The Browns are yet to score a win this season. They have lost all their four games and their miserable form continues.
