Cleveland Browns hope QB Brandon Weeden, RB Trent Richardson injuries not serious – NFL News
The latest reports emerging from Cleveland have hinted at all well for running back Trent Richardson who suffered an ankle injury during Denver Broncos' game on Sunday (Dec. 23) amid fears he had broken his ankle.
Trent got injured when fellow quarterback Colt McCoy fell on him during a pass. He struggled to be on the sidelines apparently in severe pain. His injury appeared to be a serious one and there were some rumours he might have broken his
ankle.
Now some information from the headquarters indicates that his injury, although serious, is not a broken ankle, while coach Pat Shurmur declined to comment on the latest status, saying he did not have information on it.
According to the coach:
"None of these injuries I have much information on so we'll have to evaluate them as we go and see where we're at."
Richardson was inspected by the team’s medical staff on the sideline and then into the locker room. Later, he was carted off the field and walked out of the stadium in a protective boot. It is not clear how much time is he going to consume
for recovery, and given the Browns have only a game to play this season, this year’s action may well be over for him.
In addition to Richardson, his teammate QB Brandon Weeden was another significant blow of the game. He fell down hard on the ground while being sacked by Broncos linebacker Von Miller. Apparently he injured his right shoulder but the scare
is not very serious.
Weeden briefly commented that he was fine while going to showers after the game. This was the only information or update about the offence leader’s injury until filing of this report. However, the team might update the pair’s status later
during mid-week practice on Wednesday.
The quarterback was injured in third quarter of the game and did not return to finish it. Backup QB McCoy replaced him for fourth quarter. He could not help the side to avoid a 12-34 defeat. McCoy nevertheless had the opportunity to complete
his first pass of the season.
