Cleveland Browns incumbent QB Colt McCoy explicitly desires to stay Brown – NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ incumbent quarterback, Colt McCoy, has hoped for another chance at the startling line but admits he has little control over things that he could turn them in his favour.
Colt, who started for Browns for consecutive 13 games last season before being ousted with concussion, has been making his case for competing with rookie QB, Brandon Weeden, for the top slot.
Although he has shown determination to fight off the rookie’s threat, he knows odds are in favour of the rookie more than him.
He should particularly be wary of the tilt in the support from managers in favour of the new arrival. Yet he says he is ready to face off the challenge and has pleaded for that chance.
He said:
"That's part of my nature. You're getting everything I have, whether that's working, preparing, studying or practicing. Unfortunately, a lot of things are out of my control. The main thing for me is not to worry about those things I can't
control.”
The incumbent added:
“I have to go in, do my job and have high character and compete my tail off, if the opportunity's available. Other than that, there's not much you can do. So that's what I try to do every day."
McCoy’s future has become an integral part of discussions surrounding the Cleveland Browns, and the player is under an ever increasing threat of exit from the team any time and under any arrangement.
Browns’ president, Mike Holmgren, had hinted at the possibility of trading him off to another side in exchange of another player. Some commentators believe that is the only method the team is going to use to part ways with the player.
In spite of the trade talk, no team has so far emerged on Browns’ radar as a potential destination for McCoy, and as reflective in his latest remarks he is still hoping to hang around the headquarters for longer period of time.
The choice matter now lies with the team management. The incumbent can only hope the situation turns out to be the best possible for him.
