Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren hopes Browns will prevail on NFL one day – NFL News
Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren has asked his team fans to be patient with the Browns following another below the mark regular season of the National Football League (NFL) 2011, hoping that they will be able to prevail on the league one day.
In his first ever message to his team’s followers since coming out of the regular season, Holmgren said he was confident that his side was on the course to a right direction.
"We are driven," Holmgren said. "We put pressure on ourselves to do the right things and get this thing going in the right direction. The next couple years are very important in determining how this is going to go. I'm a little upset with our record, but
I'm not discouraged.  There's a lot of hope."
While giving a briefing on his team’s performance to media along with the team’s general manager Tom Heckert, the president said that he was disappointed by the team’s performance in NFL season 2011.
However, he did not offer any excuses for the losses, or disclosed any future plans of restructuring his side at any positions, including any possible reshuffling in the management.
"We're going to stay the course," he said. "We're going to do it a certain way. I have an owner who supports us that way. He's been a man of his word with me. He wants to do it. I'm going to do it this way, and that's the difference. The growing pains are
difficult.”
The Browns ended the 2011 season with their final score at 4-12 on the league’s points table. They were the only side from the American Football Conference (AFC) north failing to have made it to playoff this season.
All their archrivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals, qualified for the second round of the season.
It was first year of the coach Pat Shurmur with the Browns and he has ended the season at a note almost identical to the team’s finishings in a number of seasons in the past.
With nothing much to say new on the team’s rebuilding process, the Browns’ president have been criticized for once again failing his team’s rebuilding opportunity.
They said that Holmgren has spoken of same old confidence into his outfit to be able to give a better performance one day as he has done for past many years.
There was also no word from both officials about chances of their injured quarterback Colt McCoy for a possible comeback next season.
McCoy suffered concussion in their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their 14th game of the season, and has been nursing his injury without confirmation if it was a career-ending one.
The team management have been criticized and was subjected to an inquiry by the NFL for handling McCoy head injury. The player was allowed to return to resume his game without testing for concussion on the sideline.
