Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren says not seeking job at Dallas Cowboys – NFL News
Winds of change have started blowing across the Cleveland Browns but nothing concrete has yet come up, especially after president Mike Holmgren denied he was angling for any job anywhere in the league.
His obvious reference was rumours that recently emerged among media circles and football community that Holmgren was seeking to move to the Dallas Cowboys as a head coach. The official said it was not the case because at the moment he does not know what
the future holds for him.
Mike said:
"I haven't booked my tickets to Dallas. I haven't talked to a single soul. That's the first thing. The second thing is I honestly don't know what the future holds or what I want to do. Honestly. Believe me on that.”
He added:
“Thirdly, I've always been, quite honestly, bothered by the speculation during the season when coaches are trying to work and they're fighting like crazy for their jobs, and I would never do that. I would never do that to anybody. I have tremendous respect
for obviously Jason Garrett."
An atmosphere of uncertainty has gripped the Browns since their selling to Jimmy Haslam. The continued losses by the team have added further pressure on the head coach and officials from the front office, including Holmgren.
It is pertinent to note that the president has always been under fans’ scrutiny given he had kept himself to limited participation in the team affairs during initial couple of years of his tenure. This year he has become more active and has been interacting
with the media on the team’s affairs more regularly.
Although Jimmy Haslam has decided to be patient with team and staff despite huge losses, almost all analysts agree and it is usual norm of the league that the new owner will bring some changes at certain positions.
This puts jobs of Holmgren and other officials on the stake, and although Holmgren has denied he is interested in coaching job with the Cowboys, he did not say that he would not move out of the Browns at all. He is most likely to seek an exit from the team
before the season ends.
