Cleveland Cavaliers beat Charlotte Bobcats 99-89 – NBA Recap
Charlotte Bobcats hopes for the playoffs were left trembling on the edge when they received a major setback against Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday night. Seven players from the Cavaliers landed in double
figures to outshine Bobcats for a comprehensive 99-89 victory. The visiting team fell two and half games behind Indiana Pacers and now need nothing short of a miracle to fulfil their quest of clinching the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
The game was crucial for both the teams as Charlotte were striving for the eight spot and Cleveland were determined not to finish as the league’s worst team. The visiting Bobcats were leading the season series 3-0 but totally lost
control on Tuesday night.
J.J Hickson had his 23rd double-double of the season and spearheaded the home team with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Ramon Sessions landed a team-high 18 points off the bench to put the Cavaliers on the frontline.
Cleveland coach Bryon Scott appreciated the efforts of his team and said."I was proud of how we came out and took it to them right away. Even one of the refs commended me on how hard our guys played tonight."
The star guard D.J. Augustin racked up a game-high 22 points and dished out eight assists while Gerald Henderson scored 15 points for the Bobcats.
The Cavaliers took the charge assertively in the preliminary minutes of the game and romped with 18-5 run to clinch an early advantage. Hickson and Sessions then carried the action to seal a comprehensive 34-16 first quarter lead.
The Bobcats showed some aggression before halftime however the Cavs sustained their momentum and kept the score ticking. The home team buried three sizzling blows from beyond the arc just before halftime as they managed to keep
a strong hold in the first half with 55-38 lead.
The Bobcats reacted stoutly after the halftime and restricted the dominating Cavaliers to reach the basket in the first five minutes of the third period. Henderson and Agustin lifted the momentum and came up with successive blows
to cut down the deficit to 66-74 before entering into the final quarter.
The home team leading with eight points smashed the opposition out of the game by taking the advantage to 83-69 in the first three minutes of the fourth period. It was Ryan Hollins who led the Cavaliers and scored 11 points of
his 16 in the last quarter. Daniel Gibson smashed two 3-pointers as the Cleveland Cavaliers ended the night with an outstanding 89-99 victory.
The Bobcats next faces Orlando Magics and Miami Heat, two best teams of the season as the playoff run seems to completely fade away.
