Cleveland Cavaliers’ coach Bryon Scott keeping contact with his coaching staff during NBA Lockout
The National Basketball Association Lockout has not hampered the head coach of Cleveland Cavaliers Bryon Scott from performing his responsibilities. Apart from relaxing and playing golf in his hometown of Los Angeles, Bryon is also spending the off-season shaping the future plans with his coaching staff. In a recent statement, he said;
"The coaches and I still get together, still talk. There are some things that we're trying to get together for us that are ongoing — the terminology and some of the things we're doing offensively and defensively. We're gonna make sure that whenever (the lockout) is over, that we're 100 percent ready to go,"
NBA might have restricted the franchises and their team management from making any kind of contact with their players, however the coaching staff is allowed to communicate as many times as they want. The 50 year old Scott is making the most of the opportunity and keeps himself in touch with his assistants Jamahl Mosley, Paul Pressey and Joe Prunty to prepare for the upcoming season, whenever it takes place.
One of the major tasks Bryon Scott has to carry out in the off-season is to replace the former Cleveland Cavaliers associate coach Chris Jent who left the franchise for a similar job at Ohio State. The 41 year old Jent was a personal shooting trainer for the NBA superstar LeBron James when the dynamic small forward was a part of the Cavaliers.
"He'll be a tough guy to replace. When you look at coaches to replace another coach, you always look for the same characteristics — somebody who's good with Xs and Os, somebody who is very good with the players, somebody who is a good communicator.”
All of Scott’s efforts in the off-season reflect only one objective, to bring Cleveland Cavaliers back on the winning track.
James shifted his talent to Miami Heat before the 2010-2011 season after seven dominating years, which left the team in tatters. Bryon Scoot also replaced the former head coach Mike Brown in the last season and in his first year with the team, Bryon watched Cleveland endure the longest losing streak in the history of NBA. However, Scott managed to save his team from ending with the worst overall record in the league and Cleveland Cavaliers finished with 19-63 record.
However, to be fair on Byron, he did not have the resources to gather wins. Most of the elite players left and among those who stayed, most got injured and were forced out either for a whole season or the lion share of it. Now however, with the induction of two top picks in the shape of Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson, things might take a turn for good and to ensure that it happens, Byron has started his work.
