The 25 year old forward lands a prominent position on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster....
Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant announced today they have decided to bring back Alonzo Gee.
Even though the details of the new contract have not been revealed yet, the GM indicates that the forward was one of their off season priorities. Grant was very happy to have him back on the roster.
“Alonzo has worked very hard to make the most of the opportunities he has had thus far and it has been great to see his development and growth as a Cavalier. We’re excited he will be part of our team as our young group of players
continues to grow together.”
The 25 year old who played 63 games (total 66) for Cleveland last season and held an average of 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game  also expressed his satisfaction;
“I am excited to be back with the Cavs and be a part of what is being built here in Cleveland. I wanted things to work out for me to be here and I’m really happy that they did," Gee said. "I’m really thankful that the Cavs gave
me an opportunity and I can’t wait to get back to work with Coach Scott and our coaches and my teammates.”
It has been a tough road for Gee and to have finally landed a prominent place on an NBA roster in an achievement. The University of Alabama prospect went undrafted in 2009 and had to work his way into the league by putting up exquisite
performances in the D-League.
As a first timer in the D-League, playing for the Austin Toros, Gee averaged 21 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals thus earning him Rookie of the Year honours. Based on his performances in the Development League, Gee was able
to secure a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards.
However, after two 10-day contracts with the Wizards and a short spell with the San Antonio Spurs, Gee was again without a contract. But he did not let the disappointments get in his way and made his way to the Cavaliers roster.
That was the break he needed and after a break out season, the forward finds him in a good position. The Cavs will be hoping that their new signing remains consistent and helps them to get out of the bottom rankings in the Eastern
Conference.
