Cleveland Hibore XL driver?

I'm a high handicapper, about 20 or so. I currently use an OLD big bertha (300cc) driver, but I would like to upgrade. I hit a bunch of drivers at the PGA store but they didn't have the cleveland available at the time. I've heard good things about this driver, and was wondering if it was really worth trying out. I'm looking for forgiveness over distance.

  1. Taylor made, makes a great driver. The R7 460, is nice and very forgiving, $199.

The new Mizuno divers are worth looking into. The new Nikes are nice. Anyway, I never cared for the Hi-bore. A good friend of mine has one, I have hit it many times, I don’t care for the sound it makes, or the hard feel of the face, i wouldn't call it overly forgiving. Try it, To each his own.

  2. I do not want to sound like I am simply repeating what the others have said, but you should make sure that you hit the club first.  I recently bought a new driver and I was choosing between the Cobra F Speed, the Nike SQ 5900, and the HiBore.  What I found was that I just felt more comfortable swinging the Nike and the HiBore over the Cobra.  Then it came down to distance and forgiveness.  I ended up buying the Nike but with an Aldila shaft.  If it had been between the Nike with the standard shaft and the HiBore, I would have bought the HiBore.  The setup is nice, the shaft is beefy and it feels like you are hitting the ball with a sledgehammer.  Go and take a few swings before you drop a couple hundred on a club.  You may be surprised with what fits both your swing and your eye.

  3. Ive played the Hibore for over a year and am very pleased with it. I can work the ball with it also. But you should hit one first , it may not be for  you.

  4. Well, try it if you get the chance you never know it might be perfect for you.  But on the other hand it isn't very popular on tour and those guys can play anything they want.  VJ was using one last year when they came out, but I'm not sure he still is or not?  If you really are looking most for forgiveness I would recommend you try the Cobra drivers.
