Cleveland Indians' general manager Chris Antonetti shows optimism for next season – MLB Update
Cleveland Indians’ front office is preparing hard for coming offseason Winter Meetings. Their top executives know that this winter will be crucial for Indians’ management on solving certain issues within the franchise and outside trade matters with other Major League franchises.
Speculations are rising but inside sources claim that Indians, despite announcing their 40-man roster, still had to undertake many decisions.
Recently Indians' general manager Chris Antonetti spoke in the media and told reporters in detail about the coming potential assessments regarding some future developments of Cleveland’s roster as well as their new game plan.
"It's still developing, I think we're a lot further along in understanding the market for both free agents and trades than we were a few weeks ago. We've progressed talks on both fronts and the week of the Winter Meetings, gives us an opportunity to hopefully bring some of those to conclusion,” Antonetti said as he explained in the media covering all possible aspects of future deals.
Antonetti added, "If there are opportunities to improve the team, to improve our position moving forward, we'll be open-minded to it. But, as we've talked before, lot of those guys who have been speculated about being traded, whether it was the Trade Deadline, or last offseason, they haven't been moved.”
The whole purpose of this conversation with reporters was to convey the potential agenda of coming winter meetings which will determine Indians new signings and trade.
Cleveland Indians, who has started a new beginning with a fresh manager Terry Francona recently, know that they have quite a good chance this season with possible arrival of some new players.
Francona, with a large Major League experience, took Indians’ job as a new challenge in his managerial career. He has already put many new strategic changes in the roster and as soon as the new Major League season will start, his new plan potentially will be giving the Indians some relief in their weak areas.
In the past season, the Indians finished at 68-94 win-loss along with .420 winning percentage. Even Kansas City Royals did well and finished one place above Indians with consistent .444 winning percentage.
