Cleveland Indians' relief pitcher Rafael Perez done for the season – MLB Recap
Cleveland Indians' relief pitcher Rafael Perez will not return this season due to his prolonged shoulder injury.
Indians’ management now told the media officials that their experienced reliever will probably make a potential return in the next Major League Baseball season.
Perez had been on disabled list since April 26 while some sources recently speculated in the media that Indians' talented pitcher is planning to come at the start of the post-season.
However, now the Indians' management cleared all confusion which were prevailing in the media and confirmed Perez’s is out for the rest of the season.
“Rafael had a little bit of a setback, Not having him hurt us. He was a very reliable guy out of the bullpen for three years who could get left-handers and right-handers out. And with Tony Sipp scuffling off and on and the kids we used being up and down, we could have used Raffy,” Cleveland Indians’ manager Manny Acta said about Perez and told the media in detail how crucial his game is for the team.
Manny Acta further explained and described Perez’s injury which certainly did not allow him to return into the season by adding, "Raffie's injury certainly didn't help us this year, He's been so reliable the last three years with the amount of appearances he piles up. He has the ability to get lefties and righties out and he can pitch in the sixth, seventh and eighth inning."
Perez is a talented player and performing in the big league for six years now. His consistent plays and persistent career 3.64 ERA is a very good aspect of his presence. Overall his 268 strike-outs and 1.33 WHIP also makes him a good role player in the Indians’ rotation.
This season, he was injured early and could not show any superfluous performances but he was still able to manage a 3.52 ERA on 1.17 WHIP.
Meanwhile, many baseball experts also believe that it is a right decision by the Indians' management as they are forcing Perez to make a potential comeback.
