Cleveland Indians' switch-hitting infielder Asdrubal Cabrera awaits salary arbitration hearing
For any Major League Baseball team, the salary arbitration issues always cause many complications when analysing any specific particle of the franchise on a larger scale. Many teams lose good players just during their arbitration hearings when a certain franchise and player do not agree on a mutual understanding regarding theirparticular salary.
Lately, sources have stated that the Cleveland Indians seem intelligent enough as they have almost completed their salary arbitration issues with almost all of their players. But one-more news is also coming this year, the Indians, who used to have relatively good experience avoiding arbitration hearings from the past 20 years, might be losing their this somewhat precious record due to Asdrubal Cabrera.
Cabrera and his agent have asked $5.2 million for 2012 while the Indians have offered $3.75 million for next season. The dispute is getting hotter with the arbitration hearing getting closer which is schedule for next week at the Vinoy Renaissance Resort hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The two Indians legends from the past John Hart and Greg Swindell are the perfect examples of avoiding arbitration at last moments. Recently both have also spoke to the media and shared their personal past experiences where the Indians and their agents acted intelligently and avoided potential arbitration.
“I remember sitting across the table from John Hart and Dan O'Dowd and being furious that this was the team I played for, but they were telling me how bad I was," said Swindell earlier this week. "I realized it was the business side of the game, but I didn't like it."
Later, Hart said, “A blood bath on both sides. We were on one side and Swindell and his agents, the Hendricks brothers, were on the other. The process was very uncomfortable. We wanted to do was build something where we not only could win, but could keep our players in Cleveland.”
Looking at Cabrera’s late issues, experts believe that he is a good player and despite what the media is saying all sorts of disagreements on both ends; the issue will be resolved in next couple of days most probably even before next week.
