Cleveland Indians GM Chris Antonetti talks about trade possibility – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians have finished the first half of the season not achieving second spot in the American League Central Division, but its management is still focusing on some trade which will bring some more stability in the team’s overall interleague results.
Tribe’s general manager Chris Antonetti has lately spoken in the media and cleared some trade speculations which were creating a bit noise in the league.
“I have no reason to think otherwise, We are not limited in focusing on players because of their contract status. We know enough to realize that being optimistic or pessimistic doesn’t count, Being realistic is what counts. I also feel that if we play to our potential, we have enough talent to win the division,” GM said with quite detail.
According to above statement of Indians’ GM, some experts have stated later in the media that the Cleveland will not be going for any potential trade. However, some have a slightly different point of view.
Some experts, who oppose the idea that the Indians’ will trade this year, seem optimistic regarding the tough period that is coming fast when the Tribe’s management will certainly think about bringing some fresh talent into the roster.
Their current roster already includes many young players while in order to stay on top they will be looking to make some upfront changes which will potentially give them a real chance to go for some possible post season appearance.
Contrary to Indians’ potential trade possibilities and their current position in their respective league, Cleveland will be still without reliever Rafael Perez when the second half of the season will resume in a couple of days’ time.
He is injured and it is yet undecided by the team doctors as to when the player will return to action. However, on his potential arrival, the Indians’ GM has also stated in the media.
“We expect to see him in the second half,” the GM said for his six year veteran player. “We expect him to go on a rehab assignment in the next couple of weeks.’’
Before getting injured, Perez was pitching with an ERA of 3.52.
