Cleveland Indians Jack Hannahan out due to sprain left groin – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians third baseman Jack Hannahan is out from starting lineup due to sprain left groin as the team management also did not include him for the Wednesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox.
Hannahan was playing well until he was injured, but still team doctors are hopeful on his potential arrival in next recent future.
“He tweaked it taking a swing last night,” Indians manager Manny Acta said. “He’s playable, but we hope to have him tomorrow night [in Boston], so we don’t want to make it worse.”
The Indians manager is right as the management does not want to take any kind of premature step in order to bring Hannahan back soon on the field as they still looking keenly regarding his so far progress.
Though, lately some inside reports came out in the media that Hannahan’s injury is serious, but the Indians have slight different point of view on his late injury. According to the Tribe, Hannahan’s injury is not much serious and he will soon be playing
again with full swing.
So far, Hannahan has played 26 Major League games with a hitting average of .303 along with three home runs, 18 RBIs and .382 OBP.
He is five-year veteran in the big league and played for four different teams in the league including the Detroit Tigers along with Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners. His overall career is still standing consistent at .235 along with 26 homers, 146
RBIs and .321 OBP.
This is important that Hannahan’s presence is needed in the franchise, but at the same the manager Acta also trying to share the level of offensive burden among all senior players. His recent statement about newly arrived Johnny Damon also suggests his commitment
to achieve good results.
“I don’t think we’ll change anything now,” the manager said. “Johnny is getting enough at-bats, and we have enough for Shelley. I don’t think this is a good time for putting Damon out there every day. It might hurt him. You have to remember that he hasn’t
played the outfield very much for a while [two years].”
In the meanwhile, if Acta’s strategy worked out well for both players, the results will be more positive.
