Cleveland Indians’ Jason Kipnis feels confident at second base – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians’ second baseman Jason Kipnis is improving in field with his recent consistent performances in the ongoing Major League Baseball season.
His level of improvement is enormous especially in this season. Out from Minor League in 2010, the one-year veteran Kipnis has not only improved in hitting areas, but he has taken his game to another level where now the general fans of Tribe understand his
utter importance in the active roster.
Against the Chicago White Sox on Monday, Kipnis again showed some spirited performance and kept the Indians alive in outfield.
In his recent past, Kipnis used to play in outfield, but his transition from outfielder to infield player and guard the second base, is somewhat really tells his level of commitment with the game.
Recently he said in detail about his game and the way he has been progressing in every area of play, "I definitely don't consider myself as an outfielder becoming an infielder anymore, I view myself as a second baseman. It's not like a switch went off or
anything; it's a matter of gaining experience.”
He added with more confidence, “I think I've covered most of the game situations, so I have a much better feel for what's going on out there. It's more instinctive now. I'd like to think I can get to balls that some other guys can't, Hopefully, that can
make up for any lack of experience."
Looking at his stats and the level of performance he has been producing, is certainly amazing. He is currently sitting comfortable at .274 hitting average along with five home-runs, 20 RBIs and .352 of OBP while his career stats which still will progress
further are also consistent with hitting average of .273 along with 12 home-runs, 39 RBIs and .342 OBP also rates him among the best second basemen in Major League.
The Tribe’s manager Manny Acta also has showed enormous amount of confidence for Kipnis and always try his best to retain him in the starting lineup. Manny Acta also feels that the more Kipnis will play the better player he will become.
