Cleveland Indians’ Jeanmar Gomez shows balance in pitching – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Jeanmar Gomez is showing enormous amount of energy in this year’s Major League Baseball Spring Training and receiving appreciation from many with his extraordinary fast throwing.
This is the third straight year of his playing career with the Indians as he now is considered an essential part of the franchise that possesses the ability to bring the Indians back on the winning track.
The Indians management, who has yet to decide over the 5th spot, is looking very keen now to give Gomez this responsibility and see how he responds with a different set of rotation spot.
"Gomez is throwing the ball the best out of all those guys," said the Indians manager Manny Acta. "It's still very early, but he's not hurting his chances. He came out of the bullpen and showed good composure on the mound, Once again, he was able to get
hitters out pretty easily. He couldn't finish guys with two outs."
Played as starter for his whole career, Gomez is showing great energy in his throwing. The Tribe’s manager and general manager both are happy to see Gomez and appreciating the way he is throwing with full authority. With the Indians in Spring Training, he
is playing a very active role starting almost every game since coming into this year’s practice sessions.
Last year, Gomez also played well and went with 4.47 ERA along with 5-3 win loss, 31 strikeouts and 1.51 WHIP. His overall 4.58 ERA, 9-8 win loss, 65 strikeouts and 1.58 WHIP also makes his a good and well balanced player.
Earlier in the offseason, some reports have come out that some of the top Major League team are after Gomez and interested to give him a long contract. However, not only he decided not to go after money, but he also made his mind to complete the tenure with
his current team in Cleveland.
In the meanwhile, the Indians are looking in great shape in this year and if they and their entire roster continued these late efforts, the results will surely be positive for them next season.
