Cleveland Indians’ Jim Thome thinks Albert Pujols is one of the best hitters in our era – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians’ star slugger Jim Thome has said publically and appreciated the St. Louis Cardinals’ first baseman Albert Pujols’ and his performance in the ongoing World Series.
He spoke during an address at the Cleveland City Club on Monday at Marriott, Key Centre and acknowledged Pujols’ tremendous performance especially in Game-3 of the ongoing World Series against the Texas Rangers.
Thome said, “He's a great player, so special, He's one of the best hitters in our era.”
Pujols, who literally took the game away from the Rangers when he smashed three home-runs, drove five with five hits at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and won the game 16-7 for his team. His dominant performance proved tremendous for the Cardinals who later
took a 2-1 lead in the Series. Many baseball experts especially Thome went public and appreciated the tremendous talent of Albert Pujols.
During his speaking session at the club with the reporters, he also told them regarding his own future commitments with the game he has always loved.
He said, “I'll keep playing, eighth on the all-time list with 604 career homers. I just need teams to call me. I can't go play in the backyard by myself.”
Thome was certainly overjoyed to receive this opportunity from the Cleveland management who showed some great confidence in him for his life-long dedication with the Indians. His speaking session at the prestigious club was also very significant as he now
became the first professional baseball player after legendary Babe Ruth who addressed at the very same platform in-front of many guests and speakers in 1925.
Jim, who has recently made his comeback in the Indians, impressed many while addressing and also commended many who helped him during his playing career. His professional baseball career has earned him great acknowledgement while he still wants to play for
more fun and glory. According to 2011 stats, he has so far scored 604 home-runs with five different teams in the MLB.
Despite his tremendous performance in the MLB, encouraging young players and team-mates is another specialty of his character and superstar calibre which is make him a baseball star.
