The Cleveland Indians’ star hitter Jim Thome will address the Cleveland City Club on October 24, 2011 at the Marriott, Key Centre. Excluding legendary Babe Ruth, no other player in the recent history of the Indians has given an address at the City Club which
is one of the oldest Independent continual free speech forums in the country. The City Club is also well-known for their practice of debate and conducting symposiums on different subjects.
Jim Thome, who recently made a comeback in the Indians’ roster from the Minnesota Twins, is Cleveland’s all-time home-run leader. His highly anticipated address will be televised and broadcast on radio across the United States of America. Some two days ago,
several news papers have also reported that Jim Thome will also speak at the annual Old Timers Baseball Association of Will County banquet on January 26, 2012 at the Holiday Inn in Joliet.
Thome’s tremendous game and extraordinary baseball talent has earned him great acknowledgement. Throughout his Major League Baseball (MLB) career, Thome has performed wonderfully and is still considered one of the most respected players in MLB. His career
home-runs reached 604 in 2011 season and he has now become the eighth player in MLB history to reach that precious goal.
The players address at the Club will certainly create awareness among lots of people, who have always admired his game and now will see him addressing on a diverse collection of important ideas.
The Cleveland Indians’ management has given this opportunity to Thome to speak at the Club for his tireless efforts which built the Indians one of the best baseball teams in the MLB especially in the 90s. His eleven year’s stay from 1991 to 2002 in the Indians’
roster proved to be one of the best things to happen for the franchise.
Though, he was later traded to the Philadelphia Phillies and went on to play for Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins but people still remember his time with the Cleveland Indians when he started his career from.
After playing for four other teams in the MLB, he returned to the Cleveland Indians last year. He currently has a .277 career batting average, .556 slugging percentage and .403 on-base percentage putting him in the elite company of all time leaders of Major
League players.
