Cleveland Indians: Regular season results – MLB June 2011
After making an absolutely brilliant start to their regular season campaign, Cleveland Indians were hoping to end the season on a high note as well to make it to the post-season. Hammering Toronto Blue Jays 2-1 in a very competitive series, Manny Acta and
his men adopted a very aggressive approach in their first three match series in July.
Showing amazing fighting spirit and determination, the Indians pulled off an unexpected victory to upset the opposition in game three of the series.
"Usually the Phillies and the Yankees, those teams are the ones doing that. But we're doing it. It's just going to help us later in the year when we do hit that tough stretch or that weeklong stretch where you don't seem to do anything right." Manny Acta
said in a post match interview.
However, the Indians failed to live up to the expectation following that series as they disappointed their fans big time in a four match series against the Texas Rangers. The hottest baseball team, Texas Rangers demolished them in each encounter to secure
a comfortable 4-0 series victory. The Indians had their chances throughout the series but they failed to convert them and paid the ultimate price. Team Manager, Manny Acta accepted the defeat graciously and he praised the game play of their rivals in a post
match interview.
"These guys came in and outplayed us," manager Manny Acta said. "They have a very good team and showed us why they're the American League champs."
The Indians had another disastrous series against the Minnesota Twins, which damaged their win-loss record to 34-26. The Twins clinched a very tight opening game with a 6-4 score. Although Indians’ pitchers did an amazing job to bring their side back into
the contest in game two, they were always fighting a losing battle considering the large number of unforced errors the players made during the series.
Another 3-1 series loss against New York Yankees meant that the Indians moved further down the Wild Card standings. Despite having the psychological advantage over the Tigers, the Indians failed to give considerable results in a three match series against
Detroit. Manny Acta’s team finally managed to get a series win under their belt when they outshined Pittsburgh Pirates, winning the series 3-0.
Ending the month with series loss against Colorado and San Francisco Giants, the Indians were definitely feeling the pressure. The Indians struggled during June against some of the stronger teams. The squad will be looking to improve their performance and
build some confidence to climb in the standings if they want any hope of getting in to the post-season.
