Cleveland Indians’ Sandy Alomar Jr. out of running for Red Sox manager – MLB News

The Cleveland Indians’ current bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. is out of the running for the Boston Red Sox managerial post. This was announced officially by the Red Sox general manger Ben Cherington on Monday and informed the anxious media who were covering
Alomar’s saga for over two weeks now. The Red Sox GM clearly mentioned in his statement that they are not ready yet to give out team’s reigns to Alomar Jr., but his time will come soon.
Red Sox GM declared in the media and said, “I had a talk with Sandy this weekend and told him how much I think of him, and that I think he's going to be a really good Major League manager one day, but that he wasn't going to be the choice for us in 2012.”
Recently, the Red Sox management had a detailed interview with Alomar Jr. for a potential vacant post in the franchise but somehow these talks and interview have gone to waste and now their GM has officially stated in the media about his future status.
At the time of the interview Cherington had said, “His name kept coming up as a guy with a ton of respect in baseball, it was a worth getting to know him better. ... and he's going to be a major league manager.”
Not only the Red Sox but the Chicago Cubs’ management also showed some confidence in Alomar Jr. as he also had an interview with them. However, this interview did not weigh much importance as the Cubs’ top executives just wanted to have a meeting with Alomar
Jr. to see how much potential is available for this post.
Since Sandy Alomar Jr. has lost the opportunity to manage the Red Sox, he will now be more focused on the Indians coaching job that will certainly help him learn some additional tricks of baseball management. His presence will also help the Indians’ roster
who is desperate to play well in the next Major League Baseball season and put in a good performance.
