Cleveland Indians’ batters clobber Kansas City Royals 19-1: MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians' batters played an impressive outing in the club’s 19-1 crushing triumph over the Kansas City Royals 19-1 to take 1-0 lead in the two-game series at the Kauffman Stadium, on Monday night, May 16.
The Indians’ hitting started right from the first inning when Orlando Cabrera hit a runs batted in (RBI) led off double off the Royals' starter, Kyle Davies, to take 2-0 lead. Then Michael Brantley added third run off the Royals’ reliever, Nate Adcock, in
the second inning to take the game to 3-0.
After receiving early deficit, the Manger, Ned Yost, relieved Kyle with Vin Mazzaro, who had nightmare game of the season, allowing ten runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth inning.
Asdrubal Cabrera hit an RBI single to the left-side of the field to fuel the Mazzaro’s worst outing of the season. Travis Hafner then struck hardly to the deep centre of the field for an RBI triple to take the lead to 7-0. Orlando Cabrera added another RBI
single and Matt Laporta touched to the deep left side of the field for an RBI double to score seventh run of the inning.
Mazzaro then tossed two balls before allowing Jack Hannahan to steal second and Laporta to third base. With both the bases-loaded, Brantley blistered a superb three-run homer to the right side of the field to take 13-0 indisputable lead in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the inning, the Royals’ Billy Butler scored the only run of the club against the heavy pitching depth of the Indians. The Indians’ pitchers were so impressive that they allowed just six hits over the combined nine innings pitching.
Mazzaro, on the other hand, gave his fourteenth run before relieved by the Jeremy Jeffress in the fifth inning. However, Jeffress could not perform as per the expectations of the manager Ned Yost and yielded a straight RBI double to Laporta. He allowed another
RBI single to put his team under 1-17 deficit in the fifth inning.
Jeffress allowed another RBI double in sixth inning, allowing the lead to move 19-1. However, the Royals’ next three pitchers, Tim Collins, Joakim Soria and Louis Coleman did not allow any run over their short one innings spell each.
The Indians’ starter, Josh Tomlin, yielded just one run over five hits, walked none and struck-out one batter over six innings to earn his fifth win of the season. The relievers, Justin Germano, Chad Durbin and closer, Vinnie Pestano, pitched scoreless inning
each to secure twenty-fifth win for his team.
