Cleveland Indians crush Baltimore Orioles 6-2 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians crushed the Baltimore Orioles 6-2 in the final and fourth game of their four-game regular series encounter on Sunday, July 1 at Oriole Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Not only in this game, the Indians’ played better than the Orioles in the entire series and won the four-game matchup 3-1.
"A nice bounce back to finish a road trip that started in such an ugly way," Indians' manager Manny Acta said.
Designated hitter Asdrubal Cabrera made a single on two hits during his five at-bats to give his team some early confidence to play more aggressive.
Left-fielder Shelley Duncan also played well for the Indians as he made two vital runs on three hits. He also made two RBIs on his four at-bats.
Indians' entire roster played well. Along with their experienced hitters, the Cleveland pitchers also performed well and earned a great victory for their team.
Four-year Major League veteran Justin Masterson pitched seven innings and allowed just two runs along with five hits. He just gave one earned run and retired seven Orioles’ batters as his ERA remained consistent at 3.92.
"Being able to finish by winning three of four boosts the boys as we head back home, finally," Masterson said.
Manny Acta said of Masterson, "Masterson was dominant the majority of the game, He was in command all day. He was able to throw that four-seam by guys whenever he wanted to at 95 or 96.”
Brian Matusz on the other hand, could not play well for the Orioles as he allowed seven hits and five runs along with four earned runs. He struck-out only two batters while his ERA rose to 5.42.
"No, not at all. In my last five, six outings just haven't been getting the job done, Today was just really inconsistent, I had some signs of good pitches, just haven't been putting it together.” Matusz said.
The Indians, with this latest series win, now stand close to Chicago White Sox at second place in the American League Central. If they keep their winning ways intact, a potential post season qualification will be a very easy task for them.
