Cleveland Indians defeat Los Angeles Angels 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Angels are currently facing some tough times with several heavy defeats in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Recently, once again the Angels were beat at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio by the Cleveland Indians 3-2 on Friday, April 27.
Indians' shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera scored a run in the ninth innings and gave the Tribe a well deserved first win over the Angels of their three-match 2012 MLB regular series.
The Angels star slugger Albert Pujols did try some initial hitting with his four outings on plate going 1-for-4 with .225 average, .279 OBP and .313 slugging percentage, but could not stop his team’s fifth straight loss. Pujols is also having a bad time with no homer since coming into this South Los Angeles baseball franchise this summer.
"Last year, we had a lot of fun with some walkoffs," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "It's nice to be able to go out and do that again."
After defeat, the Angels did some improving measures to overcome the late continuation of losing streak as calling Minor League and rookie Mike Trout form Triple-A- Salt Lake. Mike Trout will replace outfielder Bobby Abreu who does not seem in form since being part of Angels’ 2012 active roster.
Indians' pitcher Vinnie Pestano played good for the team and pitched well. Masterson replaced them later who proved his game as well.
“Everybody back home was watching it on TV," Pestano said. "It was a high leverage situation and I'm glad I got it done."
The match was going even when Indians pitcher Justin Masterson came as closer and resisted the Angels’ hitting offence which seemed in action after first five innings.
"He came in and blew it by some people, just what you want to see," Masterson said.
"He was outstanding," Acta said for Masterson, “You go after Pujols in that situation, He's (Masterson) our number one and you go after him."
Until ninth inning, the Angels were looking good, but Asdrubal Cabrera’s decisive homer took the game away from them giving a wonderful win to Cleveland Indians.
Both teams will be once again facing each-other on Saturday in their second game of three-match encounter.
