Cleveland Indians defeated by Cincinnati Reds 1-7 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians defeated by the Cincinnati Reds 1-7 in the first game of their three match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 12 at Great American Ball Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Indians, who were coming into this game with huge confidence as they beaten 2011 World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals just two days ago in their three match series 2-1, but as they reached the field on Tuesday, they did not play their natural game
and lost bitterly to the Reds scoring just a single run.
Indians’ pitching offence was real lame when they conceded seven runs and could show their resisting prowess throughout the game.
“It was a pretty close ballgame, until they just blew it open against our bullpen. He's going to be here tomorrow, We're taking a chance to see if we can get him over here and take advantage of it. We'll take a flier on him and see if we can make some adjustments
with him and help him out.” Indians manager Manny Acta said.
Later Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said via e-mail, ”He will go into our Major League bullpen once he reports to the team, With a well-above average fastball and quality slider, we feel he has the potential to be a valuable Major League reliever."
From starter to closer, the entire Indians pitchers played poorly.
Starter Jeanmar Gomez pitched some five innings and received two runs and six hits. He also gave one earned run and could hold on to his 4.71 ERA.
Later relief pitcher Joe Smith pitched one inning and received one hit along with one run and one earned run while his ERA gone to 3.46.
Tony Sipp also pitched one inning’s spell as he received one run along with one hit and one earned run as his ERA rose to 6.65.
The real disaster came when closer Jeremy Accardo arrived to pitch as he received five hits along with three runs and three earned runs.
Making the entire game spoiled for the Indians, all these four pitchers could not play their natural game and lost the game for their team.
