Cleveland Indians dominate Boston Red Sox 5-3 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-3 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, August 9 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Indians played very well from start of the play and won in the end with great ease. They played combined and never showed any loop-holes in their game. Indians’ entire roster played with a tremendous amount of energy and kept the Red Sox under pressure during the entire game.
Cleveland’s senior players competed responsibly and provided an early lead to their team in the very first inning.
Later in the fourth, though the Red Sox bounced back and scored two runs, but the Indians were more determined as they started a great run from there onwards and eventually won in the end with a two-run advantage.
Red Sox despite playing well in middle of play could not just stop the Indians’ offence who hammered them with big force.
Indians’ hitters and at the same time pitchers showed their true natural and aggressive game which also proved one of the winning factors for them.
Experienced starter Ubaldo Jimenez pitched six innings and allowed three runs and eight hits along with three earned runs.
He remained calm on the mound and earned a great victory for his team. He retired ten Red Sox batters and persistently maintained his 5.25 ERA.
"The last two weeks have been really tough," Jimenez said. "Getting a couple wins in a row means a lot."
Jimenez added, "We spent a lot of hours, a lot of days, working every day, I am always going to be grateful for what he did for me. He was there for me every day. He came to the stadium always positive. He was never negative and he was never disappointed. He was always trying to get you up and make you better."
Meanwhile, the Red Sox’s pitchers could not play well and certainly lost the game for their team.
They were hammered with total five runs and ten hits. Red Sox’s starter Felix Doubront alone pitched 4.1 innings and allowed four runs and seven hits in his team’s humiliating defeat.
