Cleveland Indians edge Cincinnati Reds 10-9 – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians edge past Cincinnati Reds 10-9 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 18 at Progressive Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Indians played a combined game and gave no chance to the Reds to play easy at any stage of the match. The Indians from start to end played as one unit and kept the Reds under pressure and won in the end with style.
Overall the Tribe’s batting lineup played tremendously. They early in the game stretched the five runs lead and later strengthened it nine runs which proved the eventual winning factor for the Indians.
Lonnie Chisenhall and Casey Kotchman played their part as the Indians led pass the Reds with a smooth pace.
Kotchman added three RBIs and one run whereas third base Chisenhall added two runs along with three RBIs.
"A cycle is a big deal, That's all I was thinking about, Everybody was like, 'Anything that happens you're going two,' so if it short hops (Reds right fielder Jay) Bruce there or gets down I've got to go to second. High school or summer ball, my best game in the major leagues so far." Chisenhall said with confidence on his performance.
The Reds’ were not in position at any stage of the game and kept played under pressure and eventually lost the game in bitter manner.
Reds manager Dusty Baker later told the media with much disappointment and tried to explain somewhat the real picture behind their defeat.
Baker said, "We couldn't stop them, They couldn't really stop us. They just got one more run. I told somebody early, 'this is going to be a 10-9 game. I just hope it's going to be us with the 10."
Especially the Reds starter Mat Latos looked tired as he gave seven important runs and eight hits. He only struck out four opposing batters and received three home runs.
While the Indians starter Derek Lowe despite playing poorly still able to win the game for his team by maintaining 4.30 ERA and receiving only one homer in five innings.
