Cleveland Indians edge Detroit Tigers 2-1 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians hammered the Detroit Tigers again on Thursday, May 24 and defeated them in style in their three-match regular series encounter when they outclassed them 2-1 at Progressive Field, Cleveland in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Justin Masterson and Justin Verlander tried their best to keep their opposing batters at bay, but in the end, the Indians starter got lucky as he won the game for his team with a narrow difference of only one run.
"He's our horse, He's got to get through that." Acta said of the Masterson’s game and his true commitment with the team. Masterson played a handy role in his team’s win as he never let the Tigers’ heavy sluggers to play him easy at any point.
The Indians went into this particular game as victorious, as they had already won the series 2-0 on Wednesday with one game to play.
Regarding this game, the Indians played combined and never let any Tigers’ batter or pitcher to dominate them and eventually rallied towards a superb win at their home field.
"This is huge for the team, We played good ball these last three games. I said when I made the comments that I was just going to go out and do the job. Luckily, I've been able to come through." said relief pitcher Chris Perez, who pitched the last inning and received only one hit eventually saving the game for the Indians, he also earned many appreciation from the entire roster.
Perez added with more confidence, "We don't have the star power, You look over there and they've got Cabrera and Fielder and Verlander and Valverde. That doesn't win baseball games. Good teams win baseball games."
Justin Verlander on the other hand, also played well, but his teammates could not help him much despite his well balanced performance.
He finished after throwing of eight innings, with six hits, two runs and two earned runs. He also struck out seven Tigers batters, but the Indians, regarding offensive pitching were more subtle than their opponents who in the end proved their aggressive game winning the match and series as well.
