Cleveland Indians edge Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians edge past the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 15 at Progressive Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Indians played well and never allowed the Pirates’ batters to score even a single run instead they kept their pressure and eventually took the game away in style.
Justin Masterson was the key factor in the Indians’ win as he pitched seven innings and never allowed any run. He struck-out nine Pirates brilliant batters and maintained his 4.38 ERA.
Jason Kipnis on the other hand, played defensively for the Indians but overall his performance also remained good proving a helping hand in his team’s great win.
After the game Kipnis told the media about his team’s great joint effort which ousted the Pirates in style. He said in detail, "Trust me, the offense is very well aware of that as I'm sure he is, too, We want to give him all the runs that he deserves. But after that series we just had in Cincinnati, for him to come out and give us that kind of start was tremendous."
Later the Pirates manager Clint Hurdle looked dissatisfied from his team’s performance when he talked to the media with low voice, "Who's in trouble there? We need to have a better understanding and awareness when we're in the (batter's) box. We worked outside our comfort zone. It has to be that you can be the guy if you get a good pitch and then hit it."
The Pirates recognize that their position at the moment is quite balanced in the National League Central, but still they need to focus on their recent performances which are not giving them desired results.
Though James McDonald pitched well for the Pirates in Friday’s encounter but still he could not save the game for his team.
He pitched six innings’ spell with great accuracy with three hits and only one run but overall his performance overshadowed by the lame batting offence of his team which could not even score a single run.
