Cleveland Indians edge past Chicago White Sox 6-3 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-3 on Wednesday, May 2, at U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, Illinois and bounced back into the three-match encounter with 1-1 overall series score.
The third game will be played on Thursday, May 3.
The Indians batting line-up rose to the occasion and took the game away from the dire pitching rotation of White Sox which never showed any aggressive plays during the game and eventually lost.
Indians’ catcher Carlos Santana showed his brilliance and proved his talent winning a delightful game for his team. He came to bat in the fifth inning and hit a homer to right while shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and designated hitter Travis Hafner made two runs
reaching their team’s score to three and also went into a two run lead over the White Sox.
First baseman Adam Dunn and second baseman Gordon Beckham on the other hand, did some effort on their end to protect White Sox from bigger humiliation, but the Indians proved too good for them and beat them in style.
"It's a whirlwind couple weeks for him," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said o his team’s defeat. "I guess that's what it is, more than him not being a good pitcher. It kinda comes with playing, a lot of outside stuff comes into it. He still pitched well enough
to get us through, we had a shot at it."
Later, the Indians’ manager Manny Acta said, "It was great game to win after we felt like we had plenty of opportunities early in the game. It's a funny game."
Indians’ left fielder Johnny Damon started his first game and went 0-for-3 with a walk, but still looked little nervous on the plate. However, the entire team supported his new role for the Indians and hoped for a better beginning.
In the meanwhile, the Indians are now looking in great shape to win the next game as well. They showed a good combination and played offensive. However, throughout the match they never showed any loop holes to White Sox aggressive pitchers. It will be interesting
to see how the Indians manage to carry their winning momentum forward.
