Cleveland Indians edge past Chicago White Sox 8-6 – Major League Recap
The Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox 8-6 on Monday, May 7 at progressive Field, Cleveland Ohio and took a commanding position in their four-match Major League regular series encounter.
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Philip Humber was disappointed with his poor pitching which allowed the Indians to set the early tone.
Humber said, “I'm frustrated, I'm doing my best, it's just the last two or three times out there, it's been rough. I'm definitely hoping for better results. I'm doing the best I can to make that happen, but right now it's kind of a grind."
He added, “Today I did not feel like I had very good stuff at all, The ball wasn't coming out of my hand very good. It's not a health issue or anything like that. I'm not getting down on myself. I don't have any less confidence than I had coming into the season.”
The Chicago White Sox took early lead when they scored their first run in the very first inning. Later in the second inning, the Cleveland Indians made three runs which gave them clear two-run lead at bottom of second.
The third inning was decisive for both teams especially where Cleveland Indians made further five runs and eventually won the game.
White Sox batting lineup tried their best to decrease the gap which had already put the Tribe’s men in strong position, but remained unable to make any impressive plays and lost in the end.
Centre fielder Michael Brantley and first baseman Casey Kotchman proved their game and added three runs in the Indians score. Designated hitter Travis Hafner also played good and smashed a homer along with a hit.
In the meanwhile, the recent win has given the Indians extra confidence as they were coming off with a good series win over the Texas Rangers.
On the other hand, the White certainly needs to focus on their pitchers’ in-consistent plays and make them aware that their little mistakes can cause the team in huge failure and if they want to avoid any further defeats, they need to come up with extra thrust.
