Cleveland Indians edge past Detroit Tigers 4-2 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians edge past the Detroit Tigers in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 5 at Comerica Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Indians with this win have also taken a strong position in the series as they comprehensively outclassed their opponents with positive thrust.
The entire Indians roster played as one unit and never gave any chance to the Tigers to take control of the game at any point. Ubaldo Jimenez played tremendously and proved one of the winning factors for the Indians. He remained calm and stood tall in 6.2 innings and allowed only one run. He struck out four and maintained his 5.31 ERA.
"It gave me a break mentally and physically, It gave me a couple more days to rest not only my body, but my mind. I was able to come to the stadium today and just have fun out there. I was not thinking too much or overdoing this or that. I wasn't stressed. Triples and inside-the-park home runs are the most exciting plays in the game. It's hard to see one triple. Imagine seeing three triples in the same game." Jimenez said with confidence on his perfect outing.
Later, centre fielder Michael Brantley said for his team’s great win, "It's awesome, With this park, it's a big outfield. There's a lot of room out there.”
From start to end, the Indians kept the Tigers under pressure and never gave their opponents any chance to play easy. Though the Tigers went into lead early in the first inning but it was only the moment in which they scored first as in all other innings, the Indians always were the first to go into lead.
In the meanwhile, looking the Tigers dire offence, the Indians’ batters gave more hammering to their opposing pitchers and slowly but steadily took the game away in style.
The next is on Wednesday but experts are already speculating in the media that for Tigers, making a comeback into the series is very difficult and the clearer advantage staying with the Cleveland Indians.
