Cleveland Indians hammered by Boston Red Sox 1-14 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians hammered by the Boston Red Sox 1-14 in the fourth and final game of their four match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 12 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
The Indians played poorly from start to end and lost with bitter humiliation. Their hitters and pitchers did not play aggressive and attacking game which eventually proved not good for them.
“It was catch-up baseball from the get-go, It's not fun at all when you come to the plate and you're down by five runs," Indians' manager Manny Acta said.
Boston took early lead in the very inning and later strengthened it to fourteen at the bottom of the fifth while from there onwards, they kept the Indians under pressure and won in the end.
Indians' pitchers were hammered with big hits and did not show true fighting spirit.
Starter Corey Kluber pitched 3.1 innings and allowed six runs and seven hits. He was also hammered with one homer as he was only able to strike-out four Red Sox’s batters on his blistering 8.56 ERA.
Relief pitcher Josh Tomlin pitched 1.1 innings for the Indians and was hammered with seven runs, five hits on his 6.36 ERA.
Closer Frank Herrmann pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one run, three hits and one earned run on his 3.38 ERA.
On the other hand, the Red Sox pitcher especially Jon Lester was incredible on the mound as he certainly won the game for his team.
"It's nice to win, My confidence never strayed. I knew my stuff was there. I had to keep telling myself that. Scoring all those runs helps, It takes pressure off me to try and be perfect. You come to a point where you have to forget stats and just go out try to keep your team in the game, Let this offense get a chance. To minimize it to one run with no outs was big," said Lester in detail.
He pitched six solid innings and allowed only one run on his 5.20 ERA and literally won the game for the Red Sox.
