Cleveland Indians hammered by New York Yankees 2-4 – MLB Recap
Cleveland Indians hammered by the New York Yankees 2-4 in the last game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 26 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Curtis Granderson played brilliantly and earned a great victory for the Yankees. He remained calm on the plate and managed to hit his 200th career homer-run which ousted the Indians in style.
"It's cool to accomplish that, When you see the list of names, all the guys together on this club, it speaks to what the organization is doing," said Granderson.
Granderson also ran for an RBI while his slugging percentage stayed consistent at .487.
Along with Granderson, the Yankees’ entire roster played well and never let the Indians dominate them during the entire game.
They kept the Indians under pressure and eventually won the last game of the series with a two-run margin taking the series 2-1.
"These are important games down the stretch, We need wins and to win series. That's the way to do it, win series. We're really fortunate," manager Joe Girardi said.
Later Indians’ manager Manny Acta commented on his team’s performance and said, "We pitched OK, which made for a decent ballgame, That makes it easier to take than when you're trailing by a ton of runs and it sucks the energy out of everybody."
Third baseman Eric Chavez scored one run on one hit. He also did well with his four at-bats while his slugging percentage also stayed consistent at .507.
Designated hitter Raul Ibanez added one run on his three at-bats as he maintained his slugging percentage at .440.
Left fielder Ichiro Suzuki also played well for the Yankees as he scored one run and smashed two hits on his four at-bats which proved helpful in his team’s win.
Not only hitters, but the Yankees’ pitchers also played aggressive and ousted the Indians with total disgrace.
Freddy Garcia did especially well on the mound with his 4.2 innings. He allowed only two runs and received four hits on his 4.90 ERA. He struck-out six and proved one of the winning factors for the New York Yankees.
