The Cleveland Indians humiliated by Minnesota Twins 1-5 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 29 at Target Field in Minnesota.
Twins’ hammered the Indians in all three games and won the series as well.
Starting pitcher Brian Duensing played terrifically and earned a great win for the Twins.
He tossed six innings and allowed only one run and one earned run. He received five hits but at the same time maintained his 4.53 ERA.
Relief pitchers Alex Burnett and closing pitchers Jared Burton and Glen Perkins also supported well each other in Twins’ win.
"I was thinking, 'I don't know when I'm going to throw. This is kind of weird, So I checked the Twins' website and saw [Francisco] Liriano was traded and that I was starting ... it was 11:30 when I heard it," Duensing said with confidence.
Duensing added, “It's better when I don't know when I'm going to pitch, I guess, I like starting and I like knowing when I'm going to throw, but I didn't have time to psych myself out or anything like that. I went out there and did what I could. I tried to keep us in the game and it worked out."
On the other hand, the Indians starter Ubaldo Jimenez and relief pitcher Tony Sipp disappointed with their performances and could not save the game.
Jimenez tossed 6.1 innings and received five runs and six hits. He allowed five earned runs while hit with a homer as well. He looked tired on the mound during his entire spell and never showed any fighting spirit.
Along with pitchers, the Indians batting lineup also failed against the Twins’ rotation. Short stop Asdrubal Cabrera was the only Indian who scored a run while the rest of the hitters remained handcuffed by the extraordinary Twins’ pitching.
