Cleveland Indians look confident ahead of second half – MLB News
Cleveland Indians have performed well in the first half of Major League Baseball season while their entire roster is now also hoping for even better results in the remainder of the regular season.
They finished second in the American League Central behind Division leaders Chicago White Sox.
The Indians with 45-41 win-loss record and .523 winning percentage has tough competition with Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals in post season qualification race.
From start of the season, the Indians’ management explained and somewhat wished that this season they will try to qualify as regular lead leaders and will not think about a wild card entry.
Until now, their performance suggests that they certainly did well and worked extremely hard to earn this second place which might turn into first if they kept their focus intact.
The Indians’ players are also thinking positive for their team’s winning chance as well as a regular qualification into the post season.
Pitcher Vinnie Pestano discussed the team’s chances in the second half of the regular season and said, “When we have the right pieces healthy and we’re playing fundamental baseball, we’re pretty [tough] to beat if we keep getting performances from the guys
we have over the past few series, then I think this team’s in a very good spot with what we have. If something happens, it’s going to happen. But if it doesn’t happen, I think we’re very well equipped with the people we have in this clubhouse.”
Recently news is also coming that the Indians have some clear plans to trade this year and whenever the opportunity opens, manager Manny Acta will be trying to get some experienced players into the roster.
At the moment, the Indians are playing with a mixed roster. They have experienced as well as young players but as soon as the second half will start, their potential need of veteran players will provoke them to land some talented individuals into their squad.
It will be interesting to see what type of strategy the Indians decide to go with as they will be looking for an improved performance and the possibility of getting in the post season.
