Cleveland Indians lose to Detroit Tigers 3-5 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians lost to Detroit Tigers 3-5 in the second game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, July 25 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Indians’ did not play well and could not match the Tigers’ brilliance. They did not play as one unit and fell short with a two run deficit with bitter humiliation.
Starter Derek Lowe was hammered with five runs and eight hits along with four earned runs. He was only able to strike-out one batter on 5.09 ERA.
“I've played this game too long to be searching, I've struggled numerous times in my career. I guess it affects you because you're not pitching the way you'd like, but by no means do you go out there and think you're not going to get the job done, and I've struggled at times. I'm in a little funk, and you just keep pitching and keep plugging away," Lowe said on his particular outing.
Along with pitchers, the Indians' batters also performed poorly and lost bitterly in the end.
Indians’ experienced short stop Asdrubal Cabrera failed miserably and on his four at-bats, he was only able to hit once.
However, designated hitter Travis Hafner left fielder Johnny Damon and Casey Kotchman each scored one run a-piece to provide somehow slight firmness to the Indians but on the whole, it was Tigers’ consistent pressure that led them towards total destruction.
Tigers’ starter Max Scherzer played brilliantly for his team and allowed two runs and three hits along with two earned runs. He remained calm on the mound and struck-out eight Indians' batters.
"I would say in the majority of your starts, the last 15 pitches you throw are the most important, You can usually hang your hat on how you execute in those situations,” Scherzer said.
Centre fielder Austin Jackson supported his team-mate starter and showed some extraordinary batting skills. He scored two runs and one RBI on his four at-bats.
Along with Jackson, catcher Alex Avila also performed tremendously and added two runs on two hits in the Tigers great victory against the Indians.
