Cleveland Indians lose to Detroit Tigers 8-10 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians lost to Detroit Tigers 8-10 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 5 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Tigers batting prowess played beautifully and earned a great victory for their team. Their experienced hitters performed and proved their brilliance against the Indians' defensive pitchers.
“That one really hurts, not only because of the losing streak." Indians' manager Manny Acta said.
Centre fielder Austin Jackson started the Tigers thrust with his three runs and four hits. He also added one RBI on six at-bats as his slugging percentage remained consistent at .518.
"[It's] something like that, It's tough when you get down. You're not really hanging your head, you're kind of like, 'Ah, well, if we can do something to get back in it, we will.' Nobody's heads were hanging when we got in the dugout. I think that's a good thing," Jackson said with confidence.
Third baseman Omar Infante added three runs as well on his four hits. He came to bat six times as he scored three RBIs for the Tigers.
Later designated hitter Miguel Cabrera also started his hammering and hit a superb homer in the bottom of the tenth providing his team with a thrilling victory. He also added three RBIs and his slugging percentage remained consistent at .577.
"[Austin] Jackson today, I think he was the key and the hero of the game, He kept us in the game offensively [and] gave us a chance to go out there and do our thing," Cabrera said on his and the team’s performance.
Tigers’ pitchers also played well and pitched in the right areas. They never gave any chance to the Indians’ batting line-up to hit them freely instead they kept them under pressure and eventually won the game.
Starter Max Scherzer tossed five innings and allowed four runs and ten hits. He also allowed four earned runs while he struck-out nine Indians’ batters on his consistent 4.72 ERA.
Later his team-mate closer Joaquin Benoit also did well on the mound as he tossed 1.1 innings and allowed only two runs and two hits.
