Cleveland Indians lose to Kansas City Royals 2-4 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Kansas City Royals 2-4 on Thursday, April 26 at Chase Field in Cleveland, Ohio losing the three match regular series 2-1.
The home-crowd of the Indians was hoping for their team’s potential win after they have lost earlier 8-2 just one day ago. However, the Royals’ entire roster faced the Indians with big heart and never gave any loose opening in all nine innings.
Left fielder Alex Gordon said, "We can't lose now, it’s unbelievable. It feels good to get two out of three on the road. It's a lot more fun winning than losing, especially 12 in a row. We're enjoying it, but I think we came here today with the goal to win again."
Later Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost also said, "That's why those streaks happen, You can't catch a break. You can't find a hole. They're making great plays. You're not getting a call from an umpire. It's always something. Don't ask me what it is. Whatever it is, when it turns you get on the right side of it for a while."
Yuniesky Betancourt started off the Royals’ 1-0 lead in the very first innings while the Indians caught the run chase in the bottom third equalling the score 1-1.
Later in the fifth inning, the Royals’ right fielder Jeff Francoeur made a single to left and gave opportunity to Alex Gordon who scored the second run for Kansas. The Royals kept the pressure on the Indians pitchers and made another two runs in fifth which eventually proved ultimate for them as they won the decisive game 4-2. It was a hard fought battle as the Royals managed to take the victory.
Indians were coming off a good 7-2 on the road and fell short 2-6 at home that now gives little disadvantage to them when they will be meeting the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins, Seattle Mariners, Miami Marlins, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays.
