Cleveland Indians lose to Miami Marlins 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians lost to Miami Marlins 3-2 in the first game of their first game three-match regular series on Friday, May 18 at Progressive Field, Cleveland in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Starter Carlos Zambrano played wonderfully for the Marlins as he stood tall against the Indians’ batters who tried couple of times to bounce back in the game.
Zambrano allowed only two runs with four hits and two earned runs. "This is awesome, man, we come to play hard every game and everything is fun with this ballclub. It still had command, even with the walks, my sinker was moving too much and then I was able to control it." said Zambrano with quite confidence and told the reporters about the different aspects of his particular outing.
The Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen later also said for Zambrano’s great performance, "He deserved the win and should have a better record because he has pitched so well all season, He controlled his emotions and made the big pitch when he had to do it. I was a little worried because they have so many lefties in their lineup and he's had trouble with lefties sometimes, but he did well."
Indians led their opponents with two run lead early in the second innings with the help of their first baseman Casey Kotchman and left fielder Johnny Damon, but the Marlins bounced back in the third inning decreasing the lead to only one run when left fielder Bryan Peterson scored a single.
While from third inning onwards, the Marlins started a great run and never allowed the Indians to come closer. The Marlins offensive pitching rotation on the other hand, also held the Indians under pressure and eventually won the game.
Though the Indians starter Justin Masterson did well in his seven innings, but could not save the game for his team.
The next game is on Saturday, May 19 as this will be an important chance for the Indians to make a comeback into the series. Currently they are sitting at top in the American League Central Division, but if they kept losing, there will be a quite obvious chance of their invariable downhill ride.
