Cleveland Indians lose to Miami Marlins 3-5 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians could not maintain their winning momentum against the Miami Marlins in their three-match regular series encounter as they lost 3-5 on Sunday, May 20 at Progressive Field, Cleveland in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this loss, the Indians also faltered the series 2-1 as well which is not a good sign for them as their next assignment is also a big one against the Detroit Tigers, starting from Tuesday, May 22.
Marlins maintained a brilliant run after a slow start into the fresh baseball season. They now carry a healthy win percentage of .537 which certainly reflects their hard-work especially in offensive areas as it provided them a consistent ball play.
This consistency was shown in their last outing against the Indians as well where they proved their game nearly unmatched for the Tribe’s dire defence.
Especially the Marlins’ starter Josh Johnson played extremely well for his team and handcuffed the Indians’ with his brilliant throws and eventually rattled them in style.
He finished the seven innings’ spell giving away five hits, one run, one earned run with four struck outs.
"It means a lot to have him back, J.J. will be completely back, It's not a matter of if it happens, but when. He will flat-out dominate again. He's a horse. And when he gets there -- watch out." said third baseman Greg Dobbs for Johnson.
Later the Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said, "He just threw strikes, I saw a couple of 95s on the (radar) gun. The big thing is his confidence is back."
On the whole, both teams’ pitchers played well which later Indians manager also appreciated their effort.
“Both teams pitched pretty well, It was about pitching the whole series. It's not like either one of us has the Texas Rangers lineup. It was a well-played series. Unfortunately, we ended up losing two out of three." Indians' manager Manny Acta said
In the meanwhile, this win has contributed a lot bringing Marlins’ confidence back from their early disappointing run. The upcoming games will test their skills with more encouraging manner.
