Cleveland Indians lose to Minnesota Twins 5-6 – MLB Recap
Cleveland Indians lose to Minnesota Twins 5-6 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, September 18 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.
Darin Mastroianni played well for the Twins and helped his team oust the Cleveland Indians with great determination. He scored one run and smashed one hit on his two at-bats. He remained calm on the plate and maintained his slugging percentage at .350.
"A win's a win, We gave it away a little bit early, They had chances. Then our bullpen was super, we got a couple key hits late and were fortunate to get the win," said Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire later in the game and explained to the media about his team’s great effort in which they ousted the Indians with great precision.
Cleveland Indians’ manager Manny Acta also spoke to the media regarding his team’s poor effort, "That's a big mental mistake there, I was running as soon as he swung because Alexi handles the bat well, I got to third the coach said keep going. Then I just had to get to the plate before the ball did. I didn't think it was hit hard enough to get into right field, but I wasn't sure if (Kipnis) bobbled it or what happened."
Twins' entire batting line-up and pitchers played offensive and earned a huge victory. It will also boost the morale as the Twins also push towards a post season spot.
Centre fielder Denard Span also contributed to the Minnesota Twins’ win as he scored two runs and three hits on his six at-bats while he also maintained his slugging percentage at .400.
Along with batters, the Twins' starting rotation also did well on the mound and showed immense offensive power.
P.J. Walters started the game for the Twins and received only four runs and eight hits on his five solid innings spell. He did well on the mound and played aggressive during his whole spell as his ERA also remained consistent at 6.39 which proved one of the winning factors for the Twins as well.
