Cleveland Indians lose to Pittsburgh Pirates 5-9 – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians lost to Pittsburgh Pirates 5-9 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 17 at Progressive Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Third base Pedro Alvarez played tremendously for the Pirates and made two runs on three hits along with six RBI on total four at bats.
“I'm just glad to help us win the series, It's just coincidence," Alvarez said.
Later manager Clint Hurdle said, "He's worked hard to get to a better place, He drove one ball to right, then took advantage of a mistake and hit another. He had a very good day at the plate. We gave them a gift run, It should have been a sacrifice fly. That ball needs to be caught."
Starter Brad Lincoln played his part in the Pirates’ win as he tossed 3.1 innings and received four runs and eight hits. He was able to maintain his 3.82 ERA which was also the most definitive performance from his side as the Pirates lead pass the Indians with big margin.
Jeanmar Gomez, on the other hand, could not play well for his team as he gave eight runs and seven hits in his 4.1 innings spell.
He looked uncomfortable on the mound and lost the game for Tribe.
From start to end, the Indians played under pressure. The Pirates never gave any chance to them to dominate at any point of play instead kept them under pressure and eventually gave them bitter humiliation when they starched their lead to four points in the very last inning of play.
At start of the game, the Indians went early into lead with two runs’ advantage. The Pirates showed some resistance and bounced back with three runs. However, into fourth, the Indians again made two quick runs and got their slight hold on the game.
While as soon as the fifth inning’s was started, the Pirates made six straight runs and from there onwards, never allowed the Indians to bounce back instead gave them too much tough time and won the game in style.
