Cleveland Indians lose to Toronto Blue Jays 0-3 – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 0-3 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, July 15 at Rogers Centre, Toronto.
Indians’ came out on Toronto’s home field with a sheer belief of winning the final and decisive game of the series but could not hold onto their natural and aggressive play. This cost them heavily as they lost in the end with a big three run margin.
The Indians, not only lost this particular game but they also lost the first series 2-1 of second half of the regular season. They had won the first game 1-0.
Starter Derek Lowe played poorly for the Indians and lost the game for them. He was not accurate with his curving and fast deliveries as he could not hold onto his natural offensive game.
He pitched six innings and gave three runs on three hits along with three earned runs as his ERA rose to 4.43.
Lowe commented on his performance and said, “That is part of trying to compete -- I imagine hitters do the same thing, Change the way you are holding a certain pitch, turn slightly different on the mound. It's fun pitching like that, I have done it my whole career. This isn't the first time, and it won't be the last. You just have to try to get them out."
Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis said, "We could have had a better approach today and helped Derek out, I thought he had that one bad inning, but for the rest of the day he battled and pitched well enough to win the game."
On the other hand, the Blue Jays played well and earned a great win against the Indians.
Blue Jays’ pitchers and batting lineup played tremendously and never allowed the Tribe’s men to take advantage of any situation. Instead they kept them under pressure throughout the game and eventually won in the end with ease.
Starter Carlos Villanueva pitched six innings for the Blue Jays as he finished receiving three hits without giving any run. He struck-out eight Indians’ batters as his ERA remained consistent at 2.68.
