Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta not blaming bullpen for slow start – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta seems relaxed after a relatively poor start of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. His team lost two consecutive games they played lately just because their all hitters were shaky on the plate from start to end.
However, that particular factor which was witnessed by every insider in the Tribe’s franchise, does not seem to bother team manager Acta, who is still agree and saying in public that his hitters have nothing to do with those low performances.
Instead when some reporters asked regarding his hitters and what kind of performance he wants from all of them, Acta’s reply was composed as he said, “More hits, but you can’t control that. You can do everything right. Every guy can square up a pitch, but there are eight guys out in the field with gloves."
Not only Acta defended his batting lineup, but he also spoke well for his entire rotation and stated in public that his pitchers also played well and those defeats which have occurred lately, cannot be linked to any of the pitchers.
Acta even said, “They threw the ball well, When you play extra innings, if you have one bad inning, you’re going to lose. In the first game, the bullpen had to throw eight innings just to get to the 16th. To me, a bullpen is struggling when it can’t hold a team in a nine-inning game. It’s a lot to ask them to keep throwing scoreless innings over and over and over.”
However, this is a very healthy sign that Manny Acta is showing confidence on his entire team including starting rotation and on his potential batting line-up. This is not the first time that Acta has defended his team from unnecessary criticism and again this time around, he is somewhat pushing them hard towards a stage where they will feel more easier to get back on the right track.
On the other hand, experts believe that this is still early to predict any kind of results regarding any team, but those teams, who from start of season try to learn from their mistakes, recover soon than many other teams who react late and fall short to their expectations.
