Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta praises pitchers – Indians Spring Training Update
The Cleveland Indians’ manager Manny Acta has loudly praised his pitchers, who are currently busy in 2012 Major League Spring Training at Goodyear Ballpark in Arizona.
Acta came out in the media and talked to few reporters and told them about the recent performance of his pitchers in the game against San Diego Padres, which unfortunately the Indians lost 5-2 on Saturday.
Acta despite losing the game, was pleased over his pitchers’ level of commitment and how fast they threw during the whole game against the Padres. Manny started off by talking about Justin Masterson and later told the media about Scott Barnes as he explained the small amount of batting practice they had during the game in which they also scored two crucial runs.
Acta explained in detail, “I was very happy with some things. I liked the way Masterson threw. He got through three innings with less than 50 pitches, and he mixed his pitches well and Barnes threw very well, and Choo had quality at-bats all day.”
He added describing about hitter Matt LaPorta, “He’s been working hard in batting practice with Bruce Fields, but it hasn’t translated to games yet. He really has scuffled in his at-bats. He’s been working hard in batting practice with Bruce Fields, but it hasn’t translated to games yet. He really has scuffled in his at-bats. Around the 15th of the month, we’ll have more cuts.”
So far the Indians’ performance in the Spring Training is not more than an average, but the way their pitchers are stretching-up including some top of the order hitters, they will soon grab the momentum to show the World how well they are prepared for the next season.
Manny Acta however, is also determined to put his team in more testing position where his team will automatically try to meet the late level of competition level in the League especially against their own Division.
Experts also believe that if the Indians remained consistent throughout Spring Training, the positive effects of their consistency will take place in the upcoming regular season as well. They will be looking to qualify in the post-season first while the next assignment will start from then onwards.
