Cleveland Indians might trade shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera – MLB Update
Cleveland Indians had one of the worst seasons in this year in which they lost total 94 regular season games and won only 68.
Team manager Manny Acta with 21-51 record was already fired when the season ended for the Indians.
However, despite Manny Acta getting fired, the Indians still could not perform well and their entire roster failed to give the franchise any kind of stability.
However, news is coming that the Indians' front office is willing to take some steps forward in order to play well in the next Major League season.
Their new manager and general manager including some senior members of the franchise want a serious strategic change for the upcoming competition.
According to some close sources, the Indians' executives looking to expand their outfield with some of the best players in the league.
Secondly they want to shrink their already expanded starting rotation. In other words, the Indians are probably going to trade some of the senior and talented players and in return, they will get a more aggressive and slightly young professionals which ultimately will help them regain the level of consistently they are lacking at the moment.
Sources say that Indians’ five-year Major League veteran shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera might be traded in next couple of weeks.
"Our current mix of guys and how things came together didn't work, We need to reexamine ways to be better moving forward, but I still continue to feel strongly about the nucleus of players we have. We need to do a better job of finding the right mix around them,” Indians' General Manager Chris Antonetti said at his end of the year press conference.
Antonetti added, “We have to open-minded and listen to how teams value our guys, We're not necessarily looking to move anyone, but we have to be open-minded, not just with our Major League roster, but our entire organization. If there is a deal that makes sense for us, we'll move."
Cabrera finished the 2012 MLB regular season with .270 hitting average along with 16 homers 68 RBIs and .338 OBP.
Meanwhile, the next few weeks will be critical when Indians will decide regarding Cabrera’s future.
