Cleveland Indians officially sign Daisuke Matsuzaka – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians have officially signed starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor league contract worth $1.5 million.
Daisuke Matsuzaka is coming from Boston Red Sox after playing a wonderful 2012 Major League Baseball season in which he performed with a consistent ERA of 8.28.             
“I just want him to be Daisuke, He knows how to win, He’s been a high-profile big winner,” Cleveland manager Terry Francona said after Daisuke Matsuzaka’s signing.
Later said Matsuzaka through an interpreter Jeff Cutler about Cleveland manager, “His smile always brings a calm to me,".
Along with a good throwing average, the Japanese international star also achieved good numbers of 1-7 win loss, 41 strikeouts and 1.71 WHIP.
Not only he achieved good numbers in the last season but his overall career stats are also showing that he is certainly a seasoned campaigner. Currently he is carrying career ERA of 4.52 along with 50-37 win loss, 609 strikeouts and 1.42 WHIP.
“That's a good foundation for success in the big leagues," GM Chris Antonetti also said of recent Indians development.
Meanwhile, Major League experts say that with recent signings of some good starting pitchers, the Indians roster have become stronger than ever.
Next season, the Indians will have the services of some of the best pitchers including Ubaldo Jimenez, Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and David Huff.
Jimenez did a job in the last Major League season with 5.40 ERA along with 9-17 win-loss, 143 strikeouts and 1.61 WHIP. His overall career ERA is also consistent at 4.03 ERA along with 69-66 win-loss, 978 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP.
Kluber also did very well in the last season where he achieved 5.14 ERA along with 2-5 win-loss, 54 strikeouts and 1.49 WHIP. His career ERA is also solid at 5.35 along with 2-5 win loss, 59 strikeouts and 1.53 WHIP.
The Indians have also many expectations from Carrasco. He is carrying career ERA of 4.88 along with 10-15 win loss, 134 strikeouts and 1.47 WHIP.
David Huff is also an experienced campaigner and possesses good career ERA of 5.30 along with 18-26 win loss, 157 strikeouts and 1.55 WHIP.
