Cleveland Indians planning to re-sign outfielder Grady Sizemore – MLB News
The Cleveland Indians are making progress on re-signing Grady Sizemore after they did not exercise team options on him that led to him becoming a free agent.
The entire Indians’ management has now agreed that he certainly is a talented player the team is in need of his talents for better results in the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Though no official statement has come-out in the media but some inside sources and the Indians’ general manager Chris Antonetti has expressed little desire of keeping Sizemore for further seasons. He sent an email to the league’s governing body MLB that
states, “I will refrain from specifically commenting on any speculation, But we remain interested in keeping Grady in an Indians' uniform and have expressed that sentiment to Grady and his representatives.”
Later, a renowned sports journalist mentioned in the media that Grady Sizemore’s agent Joe Urbon has told him some details of this late development in his client’s future, “The Indians came at us with an aggressive offer, Grady has always maintained that
he would be interested in returning to Cleveland.”
Some sources have also speculated that the deal will be on paper in the next few days where both sides will announce officially about the potential multi-year contract.
Despite this late progress in Sizemore’s future with the Indians, baseball experts have another stance as well. These experts are stating that Sizemore might not come to the Indians franchise again for two reasons. First, he is receiving so many good offers
from other MLB teams like New York Yankees, along with Boston Red Sox, Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs and second he himself wants to explore his game in another team.
However, his game, batting history and good fielding skills are well known to the Indians and they understand the importance of Grady Sizemore to the team.
On the other hand, for the Indians, Sizemore’s injuries is the only worrisome issue that caused him to miss several important games in the 2011 regular season but overall it is looking very positive that Sizemore will play again for the Indians in the next
season.
