Cleveland Indians receive 1-12 hammering from Boston Red Sox – MLB Recap
The Cleveland Indians received 1-12 bitter hammering from the Boston Red Sox in the final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Sunday, May 13, at Fenway Park, Boston in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this win the Red Sox have also won the series 3-1.
Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia played wonderfully for Red Sox and proved the winning factor for his team.
He hammered a fine homer in 7th and his five RBIs were also productive when the Red Sox pushed the ultimate thrust button and cruise passed the Indians in no time.
"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited. But we feed off that. We feed off the crowd and that's something we were able to do today.” said Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Saltalamacchia added, "We're plenty capable of doing that, we’re a good hitting team. We're a good pitching team. It just hasn't come out yet. These past three games we've really kind of beared down and attacked them."
Saltalamacchia’s teammate third baseman Will Middlebrooks also did well and hit a homer to left field which was crucial when the Indians tried to bounce back with Cabrera at bat.
Not only the starting lineup, but the Red Sox opening rotation also played a wonderful role for their team’s win.
Starter Daniel Bard held the Indians with his enormous fast deliveries as well as with his control over six innings. He however, gave one run along with six hits and four walks.
On the other hand, the Indians starter Justin Masterson was in real trouble with his ball control as he gave six runs along with seven hits in his six innings.
"He struggled with his command, especially against left-handed hitters. When he does that he gets in trouble, His sinker was leaking out over the plate and they took advantage of it." said Cleveland manager Manny Acta for Masterson.
This defeat has given the Indians a quite good lesson of being not consistent against tough rivals however; their winning percentage which is at the moment is .529, is also in danger if they did not realise early and especially before Miami Marlins’ three match series.
